Beefarama is Saturday, September 29th and our rink is once again hosting the cow pie plop. We are in need of many volunteers that day, and hope you are able to give an hour or two. New this year we will be serving beer, food, cow printed hats and breakfast sandwiches and donuts. So we need rink volunteers to sell cow pie plop deeds as well as serve food and beer. We would also like a few skaters to walk around selling deeds that day. This has the potential to be our biggest fundraiser yet! Attached you will find the link to sign up to work the event. All hours worked will count toward your fundraising requirements.
In addition to the sign up, we need a few skaters to sell deeds on the Saturday's leading up to Beefarama. Please contact Roben Haggart (715-614-7261) if your skater can pre-sell deeds. Thank you!
Jake Suter named new Boys' Hockey Coach & Rink Manager at Lakeland
Lac du Flambeau native and recently hired Lakeland Hawks Ice Arena manager Jake Suter has been tapped to be the new man in charge of guiding the Thunderbirds after spending the past two seasons as an assistant coach with the Madison Capitols of the USHL.
Lakeland approved the hire at Monday's board of education meeting. Suter replaces longtime bench boss Ken Thanig, who chose to resign last month.
"I took a job running the rink here in town and I spoke with (former rink manager) John Dwyer back in March and he said the position would be opening, so I applied for that," Suter said. "I ended up getting that job and it was just the right timing with the Lakeland coaching job opening. I decided to throw my hat in the ring and things worked out. I feel very excited and very fortunate about the opportunity." read more.....
