Volunteer Info & Policy

Learn to Play/Skate & 6U:

Families at the Learn to Play or 6U Mini Mite level are not required to perform volunteer service or participate in fundraisers. Participation in volunteer hours and fundraisers (e.g., cash raffle, tournaments, Beef-A-Rama) is highly encouraged to help families begin learning how LHIA operates.

8U:

• Families with one skater** are required to complete 20 volunteer hours per season.
• Families with more than one skater** are required to complete 50 volunteer hours per season.

10U – 14U:

• Families with one skater** are required to complete 40 volunteer hours per season.
• Families with more than one skater** are required to complete 50 volunteer hours per season.

**In addition to volunteer hours, ALL 8U-14U families are required to: 

• Sell $200 in Cash Calendar Raffle tickets/skater (unsold tickets will be invoiced, L2Play and 6U may request tickets to sell).
• Complete the REQUIRED SHIFTS: (these hours are part of the total owed, regardless of volunteer/board positions):
• 1 High School Game Concession Shift — 4 hours
• 1 Open Skate Shift — 2 hours
• Minimum of 4 hours in General Concessions or Cleaning

Unfilled Hours: 

Any unpaid ice fees, unfilled required shifts & any other outstanding debt will be invoiced at $25/hour.

Members that do not fulfill their families required volunteer hours & the REQUIRED shifts by Aug 31st will be billed $25/hr, to be paid in full prior to season start. 

Members that have questions, commitment issues, or conflicts with hours should be in contact with the volunteer coordinator to establish alternative dates or be considered for special accommodations. The goal of this policy is not to overwhelm families with volunteer commitments, but to equally distribute the large amount of rink responsibilities to everyone in the association so that a small percent of families aren’t doing all the work.
